Ähm, was ist das denn bitte für ein Outfitpost? Könntest du vielleicht mal in die Kamera lächeln, wie du es sonst immer tust mit deinem roten Grinsemund? Wir sind schließlich wegen dir hier, da kannst du uns ruhig mal die ganze Aufmerksamkeit schenken! Recht habt ihr, aber ich bin beschäftigt. Nicht zu beschäftigt, um irgendwann doch noch mal hochzuschauen und euch mein breitestes Lächeln zu schenken, versteht sich – aber ich hab da so ein neues Hobby, und es nennt sich Snapchat.
Ein bisschen rot werde ich, während ich das zugebe, denn bis vor zwei Wochen habe ich diese neue App noch kopfschüttelnd ignoriert, überheblich die Augenbrauen hochgezogen, wenn schon wieder jemand seinen Nutzernamen in die Ortsangabe von Instagram gehauen hat… und dann ging die Reise nach Südtirol los und ich wollte auf Instagram keine körnigen iPhone-Bilder posten. Euch aber trotzdem auf dem Laufenden halten. Gleichzeitig niemanden mit Lisa’s Diary nerven. Und was soll ich sagen: Snapchat war die beste Lösung! Vier Tage lang habe ich euch euch da rund um die Uhr zugeschnattert, euch gezeigt wo ich gerade so auf dem Berg stehe und mit wem ich kurz vorher geredet habe. Die Resonanz überrascht mich immer noch; ebenso wie die Tatsache, wie viel Spaß mir das Ganze macht. Die Unperfektheit vor allem, das Improvisierte, die Grimassen und das Schnacken. So habe ich euch seitdem mit auf eine dreitägige Kurzstreckentour mit Übernachtungen in Barcelona und in Tel Aviv genommen und euch dabei den Fliegeralltag gezeigt (nicht das letzte Mal, versprochen!), und auch meinen Stuttgarter Alltag inklusive Roomtour habt ihr schon kennengelernt. Der Clou an Snapchat: Alle Posts werden nach 24 Stunden gelöscht – und da ich die Downloadfunktion erst vor ein paar Tagen entdeckt habe 😉 gibt es keinerlei Proof der gesamten Geschichte. Anders aber gestern, denn da habe ich eben unter anderem live beim Outfitshooting mit euch gesnapt. Oder für euch gesnapped. Oder wie sagt man da?

Ha. So ist das, mit mir und Snapchat. Für alle, die trotzdem noch nicht ganz verstanden haben, worum es geht, habe ich noch mal kurz eine Erklärung zusammengetippt:
What the fuck is Snapchat?
- Ursprünglich diente Snapchat der interpersonellen Kommunikation, man konnte also beliebige Snaps, also kleine Videos oder Fotos, an andere Nutzer senden. Diese Funktion gibt es auch jetzt noch – die Snaps sind nur wenige Sekunden sichtbar, bis sie für immer verpuffen.
- Die neuere Funktion, die bei den Deutschen offensichtlich auf wesentlich mehr Liebe stößt, ermöglicht es auch, eine eigene Geschichte zu schreiben die von jedem Follower verfolgt werden kann. Dabei werden alle Snaps chronologisch veröffentlicht und sind jeweils für 24 Stunden sichtbar, bevor sie sich selbst löschen.
- Snapchat ist nicht besonders ästhetisch. Kommt natürlich wie immer auch auf das Motiv an, aber bis auf zwei absolut simple Filter ist hier an Bildbearbeitung nichts möglich. Und das soll es auch nicht sein. Stattdessen tippt man in einer fragwürdigen Schriftart Kurztexte auf das Bild oder krakelt in guter alter Paint-Manier Herzchen und (im Übrigen natürlich völlig nutzlose) Hashtags darauf. Mit einem gewissen Hauch Selbstironie – und ganz unmittelbar.
- Meine Prognose? Vermutlich wird Snapchat nach und nach immer professioneller, so wie es auch mit Instagram schon der Fall war. Die Authentizität, die von mir so gepriesene Unperfektheit werden vermutlich immer mehr Kalkül, Sponsored Posts und Perfektion weichen. Wie genau das umgesetzt wird ist noch fraglich – ich habe daran aber kaum Zweifel. Lasst es uns bis dahin so genießen, wie es ist!
Best of Snapchat – und wem soll ich jetzt folgen?
Um ganz ehrlich zu sein bin ich auf Snapchat mehr am Publizieren denn am Rezipieren. Drei Favorites kann ich aber jetzt schon ganz klar festlegen:
- mrfh – The Facehunter Yvan Rodic nimmt uns mit auf seine scheinbar nie endende Weltreise und zeigt in seinen Snaps nicht nur spannende Destinationen, sondern auch die heißen Ladies die ihn dort jeweils begleiten. Ebenso unterhaltsam wie informativ!
- Mathias Winks – für die liebste Labertasche MC Winkel wurde diese App geradezu entwickelt! Wer Winkels vlogs mag wird ihn auf Snapchat lieben – Minibarsnaps und sympathische Direktheit inklusive.
- Helle Flecken – haha, so ein bisschen Eigenwerbung muss schon mal drin sein. Ihr seid ja vermutlich nicht ohne Grund hier, also: Folgt mir doch auch auf Snapchat! Ich verspreche ordentlich Quatsch und ordentlich Traveling 😉
Oh, und falls irgendjemand die Ironie nicht verstanden hat: Keine Sorge, wenn ihr mir das nächste Mal in echt begegnet, wird das iPhone wie bisher auch den Großteil der Zeit umgekehrt auf der Tischplatte liegen. Die Snaps mache ich weiterhin, wenn ihr grade kurz verschwunden seit 😉

We came all the way to this site just for you, so can you please focus and give us your full attention? Oh guys, you’re oh so right, but I’m busy. Not too busy, of course, to eventually look up and give you my sincerest smile. But I do have a new passion, and it’s called Snapchat.
I gotta admit: I’m a bit embarrassed revealing this, because until two weeks ago, I decidedly ignored this „new app“, I raised my eyebrows in an almost snotty way when I saw just another Instagram post with a Snapchat user name where the location should have been… and then I started my trip through South Tyrol, and I didn’t want to post shitty iPhone-pictures on Instagram. But I wanted to keep in touch. Without annoying anyone with my current updates. And what can I say: Snapchat was the best solution! The following four days, I constantly talked to my phone i.e. you, showed you on which mountain I was standing and whom I just had talked to. The feedback still surprises me; as does the fact how much fun I had doing it. The part I loved most about it was the imperfectness, the improvisation, the grimaces and the slipslop. So I kept going: Took you to a three day long shorthaul-tour with layovers in Barcelona and Tel Aviv and showed you the everyday life of flying (not for the last time, promised!), let you follow me around on my work days in Stuttgart, including a room tour. The thing about Snapchat: Every post is deleted after 24 hours – and since I didn’t know about the download function until recently 😉 there is no proof of the whole story. Unlike yesterday, where even during the outfit shoot for this post I live-snapchatted all day with you. Or for you. Or whatever you say.

Ha. So this is how I feel about Snapchat. For those of you who still didn’t get what this whole thing is about, let me explain to you:
What the fuck is Snapchat?
- Initially, Snapchat was made for interpersonal communication. You could send all kinds of snaps, meaning short clips and pics, to other users. This function still exists – and all snaps sent disappear after a few seconds.
- The kind of new function that apparently makes Germans love the app even more lets you create your own story on Snapchat, which every user can follow. In this story, all your snaps are published chronologically and are visible for 24 hours, until they delete themselves.
- Snapchat doesn’t look good. Of course, this always depends on what’s shown in a snap, but other than two pretty simple filters there is no editing whatsoever. And honestly, that’s what it’s all about! Instead of creating super-perfect pictures as on what Instagram is now all about, all you can do is write small messages onto the picture or scribble ugly little hearts or (absolutely useless, by the way) hashtags, in good old Paint-style. With a good amount of self-irony – and absolutely immediate.
- The future of Snapchat? I think it’s obvious: Snapchat will slowly but surely get more and more professional, just as Instagram did. What started out as a highly authentic app and aimed for as much imperfection as possible will gain more and more intention, sponsored posts and perfection in its contents. As of now, we don’t know how that’s gonna happen – but in my opinion, there’s no doubt about it. Let’s enjoy it the way it is now as long as we can!
Best of Snapchat – who to follow?!
To be honest, as of now I am more of a publisher than a recipient on Snapchat. But there are three favorites that are worth following for sure:
- mrfh – The Facehunter Yvan Rodic takes us with him on his seemingly never-ending journey around the world and snaps not only his exciting destinations, but also the smoking hot babes showing him around! Both entertaining and informative.
- Mathias Winks – this app must have been created just for talkative MC Winkel! If you love his vlogs, you’re gonna adore his snaps: pics from the minibar and his beloved honesty included.
- Helle Flecken – haha, well, a bit of self-advertising never hurt nobody! You are here for a reason, I guess, so why not follow me on Snapchat, too? I promise a lot of laughing and a lot of traveling 😉
Oh, and if anybody didn’t get the sarcasm: No worries, when you meet me in real life the iPhone will be laying face-down on the table most of the time, just as usual. I will take snaps – but I’ll do it when you’re gone for a second 😉
